Marcel Ziul is the Founder and Executive Creative Director at State. He began his career in Brazil in the early 2000s before relocating to Los Angeles in 2006 for a complete creative reset, building a studio rooted in independence, high standards, and collaboration. His commercial work spans brands including Google, Apple, Nike, Amazon, NFL, ESPN, and more, earning industry recognition including Emmy, MTV VMA, and Promax awards since 2014. Shaped by lived experience across cultures, industries, and creative extremes—from São Paulo to Los Angeles, from burnout to reinvention—Marcel brings vulnerability, honesty, and clarity as a frequent speaker at OFFF Barcelona, Graphika Manila, Anymotion, and Motion Conference. Co-founder of R&D Los Angeles, a monthly motion design community conference.

Chaos is a personal and unfiltered talk about navigating uncertainty in creative life. Through stories of ambition, burnout, failure, and self-reflection, Marcel Ziul reframes chaos not as something to escape, but as the natural state of making meaningful work. At a time when the creative industry is exhausted by hustle culture and constant performance, this talk challenges the idea that success comes from control. Drawing from lived experience building State from the ground up, immigrating to the U.S., and navigating both inspiring and imperfect studios, Marcel leaves the audience with a simple, lasting message: when you stop fighting your chaos and learn to listen to it, it becomes a source of clarity, intuition, and creative strength.
