What if matter is nothing but notes coming out of a vibrating string?
SAY SUPERSTRINGS is a Real-Time Generative EEG Installation Performance that sits at the intersection of neuroscience, music, and data-driven art. Created by Ferdi Alici of Ouchhh Studio in collaboration with interdisciplinary artist Violetta Zironi, the experience transforms the electrical activity of a musician's brain into a real-time visual performance — making the invisible architecture of thought, emotion, and sound visible to the human eye.
The science behind the work draws from superstring theory: the idea that all matter in the universe is composed of one thing — vibrating, infinitesimal strings. These strings, resonating at different frequencies, bring everything into existence. When pulled in a certain way — like a violin or guitar string — they create a frequency. A pitch. A note. The universe, in this framework, is a symphony. And every physical law fits within it.
At DDD26, Ferdi and Violetta bring this philosophy to life through electroencephalogram (EEG) technology. As Violetta performs live, her brain waves — Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma — are captured in real time and transformed into generative visual output. Data about emotion, focus, attention, and neural mechanisms become the raw material for an ever-evolving visual landscape. The musician's inner world becomes the canvas. The audience witnesses thought as image, feeling as form, sound as matter.
This is not a concert with visuals. It is not a data visualization with music. It is something far rarer: a cognitive performance where the boundary between mind, music, and universe dissolves in real time.
