Data Portrait is an interactive experience created by Accurat — an independent Italian consulting firm and one of the world's leading voices in data-native research, design and innovation.
Founded in Milan with offices in New York, Accurat has spent fifteen years transforming complex data into tools, platforms, and immersive experiences that distill beauty and meaning from information. Their philosophy is simple and radical: they don't follow data — they design it.
At DDD26, Accurat brings Data Portrait to life as a live, participatory installation. The concept is rooted in a core belief: that data doesn't have to be cold or abstract — it can be personal, visual, and deeply human.
Upon engaging with the experience, each attendee answers a short series of carefully crafted questions. The responses are not just recorded — they are transformed in real time into a unique visual identity: a Data Portrait. A singular image, generated from who you are and what you think, that belongs only to you.
As more participants take part, individual portraits accumulate into a collective, ever-evolving display — a living visualization of the DDD26 community as it actually is, in this moment, in this space. What emerges is not a crowd of strangers, but a visible map of shared values, unexpected connections, and the extraordinary diversity of people gathered under the same roof.
The result is both intimate and communal. Each portrait is yours — a take-home artifact of your presence at DDD26. Together, they become something larger: a real-time, data-driven portrait of the global digital design community.
Accurat has brought Data Portrait to some of the world's most prestigious contexts — from the 2017 TED Conference in partnership with Target, to IBM's Think Summit in Milan, to the Museum of the City of New York in collaboration with Pentagram, to the Gallerie d'Italia in Turin. Each time, the experience transforms an event into a collective memory.
